Installing on vSphere with Agent-based installer fails with bootstrap process timed out

Issue

  • When installing on vSphere using the agent-based installer, the bootstrap process fails with a timeout error.

  • After booting each node with the created ISO image and running the openshift-install agent wait-for bootstrap-complete command to wait for Bootstrap to complete, it times out even after 1 hour.

    $ openshift-install agent wait-for bootstrap-complete --dir=. --log-level=debug
DEBUG OpenShift Installer 4.15.0

...................................................................    
ERROR Bootstrap failed to complete: : bootstrap process timed out: context deadline exceeded
