Running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL) or Universal Base Image (UBI) 9 container images fail with "Fatal glibc error: CPU does not support x86-64-v2"
Issue
- When running any container image based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL9) or Universal Base Image 9 (UBI9), the following error is printed when starting the container:
Fatal glibc error: CPU does not support x86-64-v2
- The above error can appear either when running
podman
commands, or may appear within OpenShift environments when containers are started.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 with either Docker or Podman
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 with Podman
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 with Podman
- Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3
- Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4
- Any container image using either Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL9) or Universal Base Image 9 (UBI9) as a base image
