persistentVolumeClaimRetentionPolicy for StatefulSet in OpenShift Container Platform 4 not working

Issue

• We creating a statefulset using the https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.12/rest_api/workloads_apis/statefulset-apps-v1.html#spec-persistentvolumeclaimretentionpolicy setting whenDeleted: Delete, we expect when deleting the statefulset that also the created PVC + related PV will be deleted. This though is not happening.
