VMware guest hangs when rtcwake is used to standby the VM during second attempt.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The command rtcwake -vm standby -s 60 works for the first execution
  • But when run for the second time, prompt does not get back and VMware guest goes hung.
# rtcwake -vm standby -s 60
