Adding force user/group in smb.conf breaks Samba
Issue
-
Authentication for accessing Samba from Windows client side is done through AD.
-
The share must contain files whose ownership is a local user in linux, so the configuration options
force userandforce groupin/etc/samba/smb.confare needed. -
In this configuration, the target shared directory gets not accessible from the Windows client side.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8, 9
- Samba
- 4.17.5-2.el8 and later
- 4.18.6-100.el9
