LVM commands generating warning of "Failed to set up async io, using sync io."

Issue

  • LVM commands outputs the following warning message (here we show pvcreate, but vgs, and similar lvm commands can generate the same warning)
# pvcreate /dev/sdb
  Failed to set up async io, using sync io.
  Physical volume "/dev/sdb" successfully created.
  • What is the cause of these messages?
  • How do I prevent them?

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
    • lvm2-2.02.180-10.el7_6.3 or later
    • lvm2-2.02.185-2.el7* or later on 7.7
    • lvm2-2.02.187-6.el7_9.5 or later on 7.9
