[RHOCP 4] External DNS Operator should support source type istio-gateways and istio-virtual-services

Issue

  • Does External DNS Operator support ExternalDNS.spec.source.type for istio-virtual-service and istio-gateway?

  • OpenShift documentation for External DNS Operator configuration parameters
     only has configuration parameters for source type as Service and OpenShiftRoute, anything else will throw an error as :

    The ExternalDNS "xxxx" is invalid: spec.source.type: Unsupported value: "yyyy": supported values: "OpenShiftRoute", "Service", "CRD"
