NetworkManager-wait-online.service failing and all Network devices in 'unmanaged' state

Issue

  • Below error can be seen in journal logs and service status:

    NetworkManager-wait-online.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE

  • With one of the old initramfs network devices are working

    # nmcli dev
DEVICE  TYPE      STATE      CONNECTION 
ens192  ethernet  connected  ens192     
ens224  ethernet  connected  ens224     
lo      loopback  unmanaged  --

  • But with new initramfs

    DEVICE  TYPE      STATE      CONNECTION 
ens192  ethernet  unmanaged  --         
ens224  ethernet  unmanaged  --         
lo      loopback  unmanaged  --
