Why are print jobs stuck in the queue in RHEL?

Issue

  • Print queue is stuck. We are having a print queue issue, there are 318 jobs stuck. Please advise.

  • The print job stays in the queue with following message:

    printer pr123 now printing pr123-14.  enabled since Thu 01 Dec 2022 07:33:54 AM EST
    The printer is in use.

  • The pending jobs for the printer is still stuck not printing.

  • Some pdf print jobs are getting stuck in print queue.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), all versions
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS), all versions
