NetworkManager fails to reliably configure interfaces

Issue

Intermittently NetworkManager fails to set the correct MTU (in this case 9000) on some devices. When this occurs the following error is printed:

NetworkManager[3919]: <info>  [1670321010.2832] platform-linux: netlink[rtnl]: read: too many netlink events. Need to resynchronize platform cache

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8
  • NetworkManager
