  • In some environments, the node name used in the pacemaker configuration is different from server's hostname. In such situation, setting hostname in pcmk_host_map will cause stonith/fencing function to fail with error below:
# pcs stonith fence nodea
Error: unable to fence 'nodea'
stonith_admin: Couldn't fence nodea: Timer expired (Fencing did not complete within a total timeout based on the configured timeout and retries for any devices attempted)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8
  • Pacemaker with fence_vmware_soap or fence_vmware_rest
