Why are large OMAPs showing in Red Hat Ceph Storage Archive Zone Clusters after enabling dynamic bucket resharding?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • Red Hat Ceph Storage 5.3 introduces a new feature called Dynamic Bucket Resharding. It allows buckets to be resharded in a Rados-gateway multi-site configuration without interrupting the replication of their objects. For addditional information, please refer to the Object Gateway Guide.
  • After enabling this feature in clusters designated to the Archive Zone, some large OMAP health warnings affecting bucket index objects are still showing. Example output:

    cluster:
                id: <cluster-ID>
                health: HEALTH_WARN
                        898 large omap objects

              services:
                mon: 3 daemons, quorum clusternode01,clusternode03,clusternode02 (age 6w)
                mgr: clusternode03.ratthl(active, since 5w), standbys: clusternode01.vmeabu
                osd: 96 osds: 96 up (since 4w), 96 in (since 5M)
rgw: 4 daemons active (4 hosts, 1 zones)

              data:
                pools: 8 pools, 225 pgs
                objects: 497.32M objects, 38 TiB
usage: 74 TiB used, 1.3 PiB / 1.4 PiB avail
                pgs: 214 active+clean
                         11 active+clean+scrubbing+deep

  • Why are these warnings still observed? How to fix this issue?
