LoadBalancer services in UPI clusters or clusters not running on a cloud provider

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

A load balancer can be provisioned for the cluster ingress traffic. However, the cluster must comply with the following requirements:

  • It runs on a cloud-provider infrastructure supported for OpenShift and which in turn supports the creation of Kubernetes LoadBalancer services.
  • Its installation method is installer-provisioned.

For more details about OpenShift installation and its methods, visit the following documentation link: Installation and update.

Is there any alternative for other clusters?

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.x.
