On RHEL 7.9, Microsoft's omiserver process is consuming more memory than expected.

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • We have a Microsoft product called SCOM that runs an agent called "omnisphere" on the servers. The agent is having memory spikes up to 4gb on several of our RHEL systems whereas it should consume less than 1 GB. A case has been opened with Microsoft. If the service is restarted it goes back to normal, however after some time it starts consuming a lot more memory again.
  • Memory usage increasing beyond budget on production servers, causing issues to the business applications.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9
