Lastlog does not get updated for sftp login.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When we authenticate to system using sftp the lastlogin are not updated with latest login details.

    $ lastlog
Username         Port     From             Latest
root   pts/1                     Mon Aug  8 23:40:43 +0800 2022

  • The last login date/time does not corresponds to last sftp login by the user.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
