Why does 3scale need so many connections to the database?

Issue

  • 3scale has created many connections - up to about 24 then they drop back down again. Why does the software require this number of connections?
  • Can the number of connections be reduced by modifying the value in RAILS_MAX_THREADS?
  • Can any of the jobs that Sidekiq executes through these connections be disabled?
