Undertow http-listener read-timeout is causing EJB invocations to fail due to invocation timeout

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • HTTP read and write timeouts affect the maximum processing time for EJB calls and results in the exception
    javax.ejb.EJBException: java.nio.channels.ClosedChannelException

  • If Undertow read-timeout and write-timeout are set, remote EJB calls are terminated after the configured timeout time with the error org.jboss.remoting3.NotOpenException: Writes closed.. One will expect the timeout to apply to http connections not http-remoting connections

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
    • 7.4
