How to enable the hpvsa driver on an existing RHEL configuration for 7.9

Issue

  • To avoid the use of software RAID, users have interest in using the hpvsa driver.
    • This is an out-of-box driver for the HP B120i adapter.
    • Many users want to move from software RAID or ahci to the hpvsa driver.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.8 & 7.9
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 assuming a driver is provided
  • HP B120i adapter using the hpvsa driver
  • Multiple ahci disks that will be mirrored in hardware
  • RAID already configured in hardware for the HP B120i
