Intel I219-LM Cards do not negotiate properly with Cisco 4500 switches
Issue
- Intel I219-LM [8086:15e3] cards do not negotiate properly with Cisco 4500 switches
- For a given physical machine using an internal (i.e. motherboard) Intel I219-LM Ethernet card, connected to a Cisco 4500 switch, link auto-negotiation fails for a long time (hours or days) before finally connecting. Given the exact same physical machine, built-in network card and Cisco switch, the problem never happens on RHEL 7, but always happens on RHEL 8.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8
- I219-LM Ethernet card connected to Cisco 4500 series switches
