Kernel stack overrun in presence of event_collector module

Issue

Having the event_collector_* kernel module loaded, either the page table corruption is reported in the kernel log:

or the panic happens due to a kernel stack overrun.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • seen with one of the following kernel modules loaded:
    • event_collector_2_5_1045828
    • event_collector_3_0_1194840
