How do we get high UDP network performance?
Issue
- How do we get high UDP network performance?
- UDP throughput performance is not as expected
- Application is reporting UDP performance issue on network side (packet drop). We have tested this with iperf tool and we see that packets buffer is getting full and over 90% of packets being dropped for UDP traffic when we test 500MB/s throughput for 10 sec.
- Configuration assistance for increasing UDP throughput
- Application appears to be hitting a ceiling when receiving UDP packets that prevents full utilization of the available network bandwidth, CPU or disk I/O bandwidth.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- High-speed networking (10 Gbps or faster)
- UDP (User Datagram Protocol)
