Issue

  • How to have RHEL DHCP Clients in a group so a DHCP server can identify them?
  • We have Windows DHCP servers and now this Satellite DHCP server, these servers act on the same VLAN. To ensure that Satellite client DHCP requests are not responded to by the Windows DHCP servers, we would like to know whether there is a way of adding a custom DHCP class/parameter that would be sent in the DHCP Request to distinguish Satellite clients.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9, 8, and later (DHCP Client)
  • NetworkManager
  • Multiple DHCPv4 servers
