JBoss EAP management plug-in for JON is unable to properly control JBoss servers running as a service

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Allow JBoss servers to be started using the OS specific calls
  • Allow users to start JBoss services using the OS specific commands for managing services
  • I would like functionality to allow the run of /sbin/service jboss-fuse-standalone start
  • Start Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) using /etc/init.d/jboss-eap start
  • Stop JBoss EAP using /etc/init.d/jboss-eap stop
  • Start and stop JBoss servers using net start and net stop commands
  • What is the recommended method to stop and start EAP 6.2 instances within JON?
  • Start and stop SOA nodes as services

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.1, 3.2
  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) management plug-in for JBoss ON
  • JBoss EAP server resource is managed as an operating system service:
    • System V init service;
    • Microsoft Windows Services;
    • systemd System and Service Manager;
  • Starting or stopping a JBoss EAP server resource using its start and stop operations
