Updating the RT kernel makes the system boot latest non-RT kernel or the opposite

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When having both kernel-rt and kernel packages installed on the system, but executing kernel-rt and a yum update is performed, installing a newer kernel, the non-RT kernel gets executed on reboot instead of kernel-rt one

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
    • kernel-rt
    • kernel
