SMB, SMB2 : STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED for Session setup command

Issue

  • The mount.cifs command fails with EACCES error :

    # mount -t cifs -o credentials=/root/.credentials //192.168.1.5/share /mountpoint
mount error(13): Permission denied

  • smbclient command successfully list share contents with the same credentials.
