Can I use the AMQ 6 / ActiveMQ Resource Adapter in JBoss EAP 7 to connect to Amazon MQ?

Issue

I would like to connect my JMS clients running in JBoss EAP 7 with my Amazon MQ instance. The embedded resource adapter in JBoss EAP does not support the OpenWire protocol used by Amqzon MQ. Can I use the legacy ActiveMQ resource adapter to connect my clients in JBoss EAP to my Amazon MQ instance?
