Encountering error "Assertion 'isolated_cores are set' failed" when switching to realtime or cpu-partitioning tuned profile in RHEL

Issue

  • Switching to the tuned profile realtime or cpu-paritioning using the tuned-adm profile command resulted in the error Assertion 'isolated_cores are set'.

  • The error appears as below:

# tuned-adm profile realtime
Cannot load profile(s) 'realtime': Assertion 'isolated_cores are set' failed.

# tuned-adm profile cpu-partitioning
Cannot load profile(s) 'cpu-partitioning': Assertion 'isolated_cores are set' failed.
