Unable to initialize DefaultAuthenticationContextProvider in EAP 7 with JBoss Tools

Issue

  • We are upgrading a legacy application from EAP 5 to EAP 7.1.6. During server init we see the following error in the IDE console:

    Updating Deployment Scanners for Server: 
Red Hat JBoss EAP 7.1
Could not initialize class org.wildfly.security.auth.client.DefaultAuthenticationContextProvider
