Why scl enable causes dynpath64: unbound variable error ?

Issue

  • When sourcing in the enable script of gcc toolset 11, the script produces an error if you have the "-u" option set in your shell:
> ksh -u
> . /opt/rh/gcc-toolset-11/enable
ksh: .: line 20: dynpath64: parameter not set

bash -u
> . /opt/rh/gcc-toolset-11/enable
bash: dynpath64: unbound variable
bash: rpmlibdir64: unbound variable

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • gcc-toolset-11-11.1-0.el8
