CUPS Error Log in RHEL 8 is filled with "Removing document files" messages

Issue

  • For monitoring and reporting, we are running CUPS configured with LogLevel debug in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, but RHEL 8 seems to produce messages for every job processed since it started. There are 3 log lines for each job per second, although the job was finished successfully days ago.

  • The CUPS Error Log (either the journal or /var/log/cups/error_log is filled with lines like the following (the following entries are from the systemd journal):
