How to set the parameters of the sunrpc kernel module correctly in RHEL 5 and 6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • sunrpc.min\_resvport and sunrpc.max\_resvport parameters are not set at boot even while specified in sysctl.conf. But when sysctl -p is executed after boot, it works. The module sunrpc is not loaded at boot when sysctl -p is done.
  • sunrpc module is not persistant across reboot on RHEL 6.5

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7+
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6+
  • sunrpc module
