OpenShift 4 Node joins cluster with the short name instead of the FQDN

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • OpenShift 4 Node joins cluster with the short name instead of the FQDN

  • When using oc get nodes a newly added node appears with the short name instead of the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)

  • I've manually approved the node's Certificate Signing Request (CSR) where the Common Name (CN) field was the short name (could or could not apply to this solution)

  • A node shows up by its FQDN name, but is in the NotReady state (could or could not apply to this solution)

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP)
    • 4
