Printing to Windows Server using IPP may cause large delays in RHEL 8 and 9
Issue
- We have configured a Windows Server 2016 system to accept print jobs via TLS-encrypted IPP (Internet Printing Protocol). Our RHEL 8 CUPS server is configured to send jobs to the Windows print server, but jobs are taking several minutes to complete.
- From the linux server we are sending the print jobs to the print server on customer end, print server Operating system is Windows Server 2019. Reports are taking too much time to complete.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.0 - 8.5, RHEL 9.0
- Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 2.2.6 and 2.3.3
- Encrypted IPP communication to a Windows print server
