Issue

  • Install of filesystem-2.4.30-3.el6.x86_64.rpm using rpm command fails with following error.

    [root@example ~]# rpm -ivh filesystem-2.4.30-3.el6.x86_64.rpm 
    Preparing...                ########################################### [100%]
       1:filesystem             ########################################### [100%]
    error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/tmp: cpio: rename failed - Is a directory
    
  • Install of filesystem package using yum command fails with following error.

    [root@example ~]# yum update filesystem
    Running Transaction
      Updating   : filesystem-2.4.30-3.el6.x86_64                               1/2 
    Error unpacking rpm package filesystem-2.4.30-3.el6.x86_64
    error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/tmp: cpio: rename
    Installed products updated.
    filesystem-2.4.30-2.1.el6.x86_64 was supposed to be removed but is not!
