Packet loss on external network causing connection timed out and ping loss

Issue

  • Unable to ping the destination server, possibly intermittently or less than 100% ping drop.
  • Connection occasionally times out while accessing the application server from the client machine.
  • Slow throughput performance of network transfers. Traffic slows down and appears to hang for long periods of time.
  • Ping output shows packet loss: X packets transmitted, Y received, Z% packet loss
  • Connection timed out while accessing the application server from the client machine.
  • Unable to telnet from one machine to another.
