RHV fails to start VM with vGPU, displaying error $unavailableMDevs The host rhvh1 did not satisfy internal filter MDevice because some of the required mDev devices are unavailable

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After shutting down a virtual machine (VM) with a vGPU mdev device attached, the vGPU is not returned to the available instances pool.
  • Starting up the same VM fails and the following error is written to the RHV-M /var/log/ovirt-engine/engine.log:

    Failed to run VM testvm1 due to a failed validation: [Cannot run VM. There is no host that satisfies current scheduling constraints. See below for details:, The host rhvh1 did not satisfy internal filter MDevice because some of the required mDev devices are unavailable (nvidia-260).
