Ceph Rados Gateway [RGW] Consumes excessive memory during storage pressure events
Issue
During moments of pressure from back-end storage ( e.g. during backfill / recovery, or OSD flapping events ), or when the incoming request rate is too high for the available Ceph cluster performance, the Ceph Rados Gateway can consume significant amounts of memory ( VSS in particular ).

Red Hat Ceph Storage versions 4.x and newer.
