Why does the generic "vesa" driver is used in place of "intel" when the system is started with "nomodeset" parameter?

Issue

  • When booted with the kernel option nomodeset, Red Hat Enterprise Linux will use the vesa driver instead of the intel driver, even if intel is specified in the xorg.conf
