Why chan_read_failed messages in /var/log/messages ?

Issue

  • Server crashed and seen below messages before restart.

    Dec  4 08:00:17 XXXX sshd[22928]: error: channel 0: chan_read_failed for istate 1
Dec  4 08:00:17 XXXX sshd[22928]: error: channel 0: chan_read_failed for istate 3
Dec  4 08:00:17 XXXX sshd[22928]: error: channel 0: chan_read_failed for istate 3
Dec  4 15:00:46 XXXX syslogd 1.4.1: restart.

Environment

  • RHEL 4.6
  • OpenSSH
