Starting Xorg with our touch-screen driver fails: undefined symbol: xf86GetMotionEvents

Issue

  • We have a proprietary driver for our touch-screen device that is failing to load in Xorg on RHEL 6.1. Here is the error message shown in Xorg.0.log:

    (II) LoadModule: "twxinput"
    (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/twxinput_drv.so
    dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/twxinput_drv.so: undefined symbol: xf86GetMotionEvents
    (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/twxinput_drv.so
    (II) UnloadModule: "twxinput"
    (EE) Failed to load module "twxinput" (loader failed, 7)
