Why are the RGW services crashing after running the cephadm adoption playbook?

Issue

  • During an upgrade from RHCS 4 to RHCS 5, after running the cephadm adoption playbook as instructed in the Ceph Installation Guide , the RGW service crashes with the below error:

     Hostname conmon[12897]: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::system_error'
 Hostname conmon[12897]:   what():  rados_nobjects_list_next2: Operation not permitted
 Hostname conmon[12897]: *** Caught signal (Aborted) **

  • Why is this issue occurring? How to start the RGW service again?
