ls -l triggers mount of autofs shares when --ghost option is present or browse_mode is enabled

Issue

  • ls -l /ll triggers unwanted mounts of autofs filesystems.
  • stat triggers unwanted mounts of autofs filesystems.
  • Errors are seen for autofs mount points which are inaccessible : "ls:cannnot access 'XXXXX' : No such file or directory".

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • autofs-5.1.4-74.el8.x86_64
  • coreutils-8.30-12.el8.x86_64
