Files created via Samba (CIFS) over GlusterFS have incorrect timestamp information

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • RHS 2.1 changes the access time stamp of files to an incorrect value, when a file saved after a write on a samba share mounted on any client(including windows)

    Eg:

    Access: 2106-02-07 06:28:15.000000000 +0000
    Modify: 2014-01-06 10:10:50.000000000 +0000
    Change: 2014-01-06 10:10:51.000000000 +0000

  • After writing to a file on a Samba share, the 'last access time' is left empty in Explorer and the file properties

    Empty "accessed" time

Environment

  • Red Hat Storage 2.1
    • Samba with vfs_glusterfs-plugin
  • Clients
    • Linux kernel CIFS client
    • Microsoft Windows 7 SP1
    • possibly others
