openJDK17 Image is failing to start after Source-to-Image build on OpenShift Container Platform

Issue

  • After successfully building the https://github.com/jboss-openshift/openshift-quickstarts example with ubi8/openjdk-17, the pod is failing to start and reporting the below error.

    $ oc logs openjdk-846c579c-hvt9r
Starting the Java application using /opt/jboss/container/java/run/run-java.sh ...
/opt/jboss/container/java/run/run-java.sh: line 223: /home/jboss/passwd: Permission denied

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4
  • ubi8/openjdk-17
