Openshift 4.x IPI installation on VMware vSphere using templates for CoreOS

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • During the IPI installation, the RHOCP installer must upload the Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) image from a bastion host to every vSphere Cluster every time the installation is started instead of telling the cluster to use the image that is already stored in vSphere.
  • The RHOCP installer currently uploads an OVA image each time you install a new cluster on the VMware vSphere.
  • It's not possible to point the RHOCP installer to an existing OVA image that is already stored in VMware vSphere.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP)
    • 4.x
  • Installer Provisioned Infrastructure installation (IPI)
  • VMware vSphere
