Why I see "Password is not ASCII" if I use SSL keystore

Issue

  • I did not found restrictions on passwords in PKCS#5 but I see an Exception "Password is not ASCII" during runtime
  • I am able to import the certificate with a password that contains special characters like "§ÖÄÜ" into a windows keystore but it won't work in Java.
  • Is there a bug in JBoss code because I can not use special characters in a password for a SSL keystore?

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
  • Red Hat JBoss Webserver
