Unable to get GUI login screen after applying latest updates in RHEL6.

Issue

  • Unable to start system in runlevel5 after applying latest package updates. Getting a spinning circle on display and then it locks up without login screen.

  • There are no errors in the Xorg logs, but the Xorg log file does seem a little shorter than expect.

  • The system is accessible via ssh however the console is locked. Keyboard or mouse are not working and the display is stuck with the REDHAT ENTERPRISE LINUX 6 banner.
