Issue

  • Virtual IP (VIP) or clustered IP resource does not always fail over with VMware NSX
  • Moving the HA (High Availability) VIP from one NFS server to another, sometimes clients experience a delay of up to 30 minutes before traffic works again

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Red Hat High Availability Add-on or other cluster software
  • VMware NSX distributed firewall (DFW)
  • IP address which moves between systems (VIP or Virtual IP resource)
  • Network service using the IP resource such as NFS or ISCSI or other clustered resource
