Path failures and SCSI aborts/resets when using multipath in RHEL 5 Update 6 and earlier with HP HSV340 or HSV360

Issue

  • The server has issues whith the I/O related to Database. Reviewing the logs of the Operating System there are certain errors related to Qlogic modules and disconnected ports.
  • Seeing path failures, SCSI aborts and resets, and/or qla2xxx errors with my HSV340
kernel: qla2xxx 0000:04:00.1: scsi(2:8:0): Abort command issued -- 1 30deca 2002.
kernel: qla2xxx 0000:04:00.1: scsi(2:8:0): DEVICE RESET ISSUED.
kernel: qla2xxx 0000:04:00.1: scsi(2:8:0): DEVICE RESET SUCCEEDED.
kernel: qla2xxx 0000:04:00.1: scsi(2:8:0): Abort command issued -- 1 30deca 2002.
kernel: qla2xxx 0000:04:00.1: scsi(2:8:0): LOOP RESET ISSUED.

  • device-mapper-multipath releases prior to 0.4.7-30.el5
  • Storage device vendor HP, product HSV340 or HSV360
