RHEL 6.4 KVM Guest running extremely slowly

Issue

  • There is a slow response from the VM using virt-viewer.
  • There is an inability to ssh into the guest.
  • The VM only sees 3 GB of RAM.
  • The VM takes approximately 20 minutes to boot.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 or later - Host
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 or later - KVM Guest
  • QEMU Hypervisor
  • IDE Disk
